We are delighted to have Activate Learning as the parent company for our program. They fully support our emphasis on combining productive discourse, hands-on manipulatives and paper-and-pencil with a visually interactive, digital program.
GREENWICH, Conn. April 26, 2018
Activate Learning®, a leader in K-14 STEM curriculum aligned with Standards for Mathematical Practice (SMPs) and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), announces today it has acquired Conceptua® Math, a rapidly-emerging innovator in mathematics curriculum for K-5 classrooms. The company will continue to support existing Conceptua Math customers and bring new customers on board, offering the highest quality, classroom tested solutions to support visual and conceptual understanding through a combination of personalized and social learning.
“We have been searching for the right, digital, elementary mathematics solution to complement our growing product line,” said Eric Johnson, CEO of Activate Learning and a 20-year veteran of the industry. “Conceptua Math is the perfect fit, completely consistent with our emphasis on rich classroom discourse and deep conceptual learning. It stands out from all other online programs.”
Arjan Khalsa, founder and CEO of Conceptua Math, added: “We are delighted to have Activate Learning as the parent company for our program. They fully support our emphasis on combining productive discourse, hands-on manipulatives and paper-and-pencil with a visually interactive, digital program. Under Activate’s leadership, we can grow and make a bigger impact on educational outcomes.”
Activate Learning has been growing rapidly in the last several years through its award-winning programs. Conceptua Math is the first elementary mathematics resource to be included in the product line. The company specializes in investigation-centered, student-driven learning in math and science for grades K-14. Its curricula integrate reading, writing, talking, and “doing” math and science in every lesson. With Activate Learning, students connect ideas from lesson to lesson and to out-of-class experiences. This acquisition will give school districts the opportunity to work with Activate STEM products from kindergarten through grade 14.
Conceptua Math is unique in the way that it deploys online technology to enable multi-faceted classroom experiences. Teacher lead “Openers” and “Closers” in which the technology provides guidance with talk moves and use of manipulatives. Students log into personalized lessons, receiving instant feedback while the program tracks granular data. Once a week, the entire class engages in group-centered projects. This innovative approach to blended learning separates Conceptua Math from other digital solutions and makes it the right choice for Activate Learning.
Activate Learning plans to continue expansion through additional acquisitions in STEM education and related market areas.
