MINNEAPOLIS, MN – 07-26-2018 (Press Release Jet) — The Philippines is becoming a popular travel destination for drone pilots. It was also the setting for a contest-winning drone video.

Dubai-based drone pilot Bachir Moukarzel took home the top prize in June’s Drone Video of the Month contest, hosted by AirVuz. Shot with a DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone, Moukarzel’s winning film showcased the beauty of the Philippines from an aerial point of view.

A total of $2,500 in cash and prizes was awarded to a number of videos, with five different videos taking home $250 and Moukarzel claiming the $1,000 top prize.

Moukarzel was eligible for the monthly contest as a previous winner for the Drone Video of the Week contest. The Drone Video of the Month was selected by the AirVuz curation staff, which also choses five videos per week uploaded to AirVuz.com as nominees for the weekly contest. Those nominees are voted on by the public, with the winner taking home cash.

As a freelance drone pilot, Moukarzel had previously won awards for his drone photography prior to taking home the prize from AirVuz. A photo of his won the 2017 International Drone Photography Contest for the Urban category.

Five additional content creators won AirVuz gear, including T-shirts and hats, as honorable mentions in the monthly contest.

The Drone Video of the Week and Drone Video of the Month contests followed the success of the inaugural AirVuz Drone Video Awards, which selected the best drone videos and photos of 2017. Voters chose winners in 13 categories from a total of more than 38,000 videos. Moukarzel’s winning video from this month’s contest is automatically entered into the 2018 Drone Video of the Year contest.
