Mix Bakeshop commemorates all things space inspired April 30 – May 5.

RENO, Nev., April 27, 2018 – “Eat cupcakes, you will!” Even Yoda could use something to satisfy that sweet tooth as he imparted his great wisdom on to young Skywalker. With “May the Fourth be with you” day and Reno Space Fest on quick approach, Mix Bakeshop is busy embracing the force to bring Star Wars cookies and space cupcakes to Jedi and Storm Troopers, alike. Available April 30 – May 5, the special desserts will be sold at their store in the Village Shopping Center on California Avenue. On May 4, patrons in space costumes will receive a special gift.

“Who doesn’t love a themed treat celebrating one of the most iconic film series of all time?” asked Kris Daters, owner. “Working alongside those who bring Reno Space Fest to our great town, we are excited to offer some creative, fun, tasty goodies.”

Mix Bakeshop special week-long event will occur simultaneously. During Reno Space Fest on May 3 – 6, the National Automobile Museum, Nevada Space Center and The Biggest Little Science + Film Festival in the World will host a series of cosmic happenings. This four-day science fete includes a science fiction shorts and student film competition, science documentaries, panel discussions and virtual reality experiences.

ABOUT MIX BAKESHOP Reno’s favorite sweet spot first opened their doors in 2009 as Mix Cupcake Co. and haven’t looked back since. After eight years as one of the area's most taste-worthy and favorite cupcake and bakery shops, in May 2012 the little bakeshop that could make the move to the Village Shopping Center — home of one of the best farmers markets in town. In September 2015, Mix Cupcake Co. purchased Levi’s Pies, a local pie purveyor established in 2012, adding to their already robust menu of services. Last May, Mix relocated to a much larger space that was able to accommodate twice as many customers in the same Village Shopping Center and celebrated with the community during a special one-day gourmet grand opening by giving away 250 decadent cupcakes.

Brad grew up in a small town in northern Iowa. He studied chemistry in college, graduated, and married his wife one month later. They were then blessed with two baby boys within the first four years of marriage. Having babies gave their family a desire to return to the old paths – to nourish their family with traditional, homegrown foods; rid their home of toxic chemicals and petroleum products; and give their boys a chance to know a simple, sustainable way of life.
