Qinqin Liu Celebrated for Excellence in Environmental Art, Science and Research

    FAIR OAKS, CA, February 05, 2018 — Qinqin Liu has been included in Marquis Who's Who. An expert in environmental science, Dr. Liu works as a senior environmental scientist with the California Department of Water Resources. In this role, she conducts studies in the areas of ecological services related to climate change in water, energy and food nexus, species conservation, and environmental assessment for fishery and aquatic ecosystems, as well as water resource management for listed species and habitats.

Dr. Liu began her career at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, obtaining an MS in plant genetics and breeding. She then went on to earn a PhD in botany from the University of California, Davis. She has contributed to numerous projects, including “Preparing for New Risks: Addressing Climate Change in California's Water Plans, the book “Water-Energy-Food Nexus: Principles and Practices,” climate and watershed art shows at state and national conferences as well as museums.

As a respected voice in the field, Dr. Liu has been recognized for her achievements in the field. In 2015 and 2016, she was invited to serve as a panelist and reviewer for the National Science Foundation. In the coming years, Dr. Liu intends to expand upon her research, as well as experience the continued growth and success of her career as an artist-scientist.

Brad grew up in a small town in northern Iowa. He studied chemistry in college, graduated, and married his wife one month later. They were then blessed with two baby boys within the first four years of marriage. Having babies gave their family a desire to return to the old paths – to nourish their family with traditional, homegrown foods; rid their home of toxic chemicals and petroleum products; and give their boys a chance to know a simple, sustainable way of life. They are currently building a homestead from scratch on two little acres in central Texas. There’s a lot to be done to become somewhat self-sufficient, but they are debt-free and get to spend their days living this simple, good life together with their five young children.
