It was a redemption of sorts for Weldon Kirui of Kenya. He was able to win the 33rd edition of the Los Angeles Marathon on Sunday. This was the second time in 3 years that he has won this marathon.
By winning the 33rd edition of the Los Angeles marathon, Kirui took home $25,000. He finished the 26.2-mile marathon that started from Dodger stadium and ended at the shore of the Pacific Ocean in Santa Monica in 2 hours, 11 minutes and 47 seconds.
The runner-up of the marathon was Gebretsadik Adihana from Ethiopia. He was on top of his marathon skills and made a very good final response. But, he could not defeat Kirui as he finished just 10 seconds behind him. The third place went to Elisha Barno of Kenya. He was the winner of the 32nd edition of the Los Angeles marathon.
Kirui looked very pleased to win this edition of the Los Angeles marathon. He said that he was aware of the course as he has already done so many miles here. This is the 4th time that Kirui has made it to the top 4 in this marathon.
Kirui said that he has made a bit of change to his training and this has helped him run a good marathon.
